Vivilo Wine Fest 2024
Over the weekend of 6-7 July, the second edition of the Vivilo Wine Fest took place at the magnificent Donnafugata Castle: a labyrinth of taste, but with a guide by the glass.
The mission of the Vivilo Wine Fest was absolutely achieved: the uniqueness of our territory was celebrated with an event in which wine, music and art were the leitmotif for discovering the beauty of our land, Sicily.
We at Decorato Distillates and Champagne were there and proposed our whisky and rum pairings to sweet and savoury gastronomic delicacies.
Below are the proposed pairings:
- The aromatic richness, composed of notes of vanilla, coconut, chocolate and candied fruits of Rhum agricole Depaz from Martinique met with the lashing strength of Bonajuto’s Modican chocolate.
- The gustatory and aromatic complexity of Rhum Depaz VSOP aged seven went well with the creaminess of the Sicilian cannoli.
- We reached the pinnacle of pleasure with Mazzara’s tuna ventresca paired with Nikka’s No Aged Yoichi whisky. The fatty part of the tuna and its strong flavour stood up to the great elegance, balance and smoothness of this whisky matured in oak barrels of different ages with its sweet and fresh aromas characterised by a good savouriness and live peatiness.
- The smoothness and lightness of Nikka’s Miyagikyo No Aged whisky with its aromas of apple and citrus fruit paired beautifully with culatello and aged Parmesan. An ecstasy of umami for the taste buds.
